Fun League Season 17 is Underway!

Funleague.net have kicked off their Season 17 Blood Bowl Season and I’m trying something new with a Nurgle team, so without further ado, here is the report from week 1:

Harrysan’s Heroes 0-1 Mandingo Fandango

A new Khorne team versus a new Nurgle team meant the turnovers came thick and fast, with plenty of skulls and both-downs leaving both coaches plans in disarray. Continue reading

Blood Bowl Revised Kick Off Table

We’re kicking off the Wigan Wargames 2014 Blood Bowl League this Friday and the coaches have the optional use (provided they agree beforehand) of this revised kick-off table.

blood bowlFeel free to use it in your own games.

2D8 Kick-Off Table

2: Get the Ref

The fans exact gruesome revenge on the ref for his dubious decisions and his replacement is more lenient – in fear of his life. Each team gains 2 bribes for the remainder of the match. When using a bribe, roll a D6. On a 2-5 it works, but a 1 means the player’s antics are too despicable to go unpunished and he is sent off (wasting the bribe).

3: Slug Ball

The ball is cursed by Tzeentch and will turn the next player to hold it into a slug. The kicking team may kick it directly at a player of their choice who, in accordance with the rules, MUST try to catch it. The first player to catch or pick up the ball has the remainder of the turn to get rid of it (pass/hand-off) before they are transformed into a gastropod (missing the rest of the game). If they still hold the ball at the end of the turn it bounces in the square they are in as they mutate.

Touch-backs will not turn a player into a slug – the ball-boy will be transformed and Tzeentch’s curse will be wasted.

If a player on the kicking team catches the ball they are turned into a slug prior to the touch-back. Continue reading

Risk: Legacy. The Founding of a New Earth (spoiler free).

Risk LegacyIn 2128, after years of global warfare, theoretical physicists joined together with astronomers, engineers, and particle physicists to announce a breathtaking breakthrough: the ability to create new Earths.

Instead of warring over ever-scarcer resources and ever-diminishing supplies, factions and populations could transport to a verdant Earth, untouched by humans.

With great fanfare, the colonists departed for the first earth clone created, ready to leave war behind.

It took two months for the first battle to take place. Continue reading

Drafting Theros

Magic is a money-sink right? Not necessarily. 6 quid for 4 sets of every card (commons and uncommons) in the new Theros block from ebay. Sweet.

We drafted the block on Friday, and prior to doing so, I had a think about the cards in this block. Opinion on the net is currently divided on the speed of the block. Having seen that direct-damage and denial spells are at a premium I’d say that the block is pretty quick, so with this in mind I thought about forcing a U/W aggro deck. Continue reading

I’m determined to finish a game of Diplomacy. Real life keeps getting in the way, but here I go, trying to fit it in, and this time I’ve drawn Russia.

The Lantern of Fiery Death or My Wedding Anniversary

This is how a sky lantern should work

If you know of a little old lady who opened her front door sometime over Christmas and her eyeballs popped and dribbled down her face as she was consumed by a raging fireball, can you pass on my apologies? Continue reading

The Rat King (Part 1)

It is a warm spring day when the summons from Gwendolyn arrives. The morning chill has been chased away by the warm sun and Lockhaven bustles with activity as everymouse is trying to find any reason to work outside or run errands around the town. The note simply says:

Please assemble your patrol in the map room for an assignment.

The Guard has been with the dawning of spring. A season’s worth of mail needs delivering, mice need escorting and all the other activities restored which winter postpones. It is routine work, but important to the mice of the territories. Continue reading

Mouse Guard

The lives of mice are a daily struggle for survival—the weather, wilderness and animals are uncaring and savage. But mice are a doughty people. Though all the world stands against them, they refuse to give up! They have claimed the Mouse territories as their own: a network of cities, towns and villages where mice thrive and prosper despite all that stands in their way.

A band of selfless heroes makes it all possible. Called the Mouse Guard, these fearless mice blaze trails through the wilderness, escort travelers from city to city, and protect mice cities from predators and the fury of nature.
